Welcome to the CMS e-Lab Workshop at Idaho State University!

Participant Outcomes

By the end of this workshop, you will be able to:

  • Give an account of some of the big physics questions being explored at the LHC
  • Describe the structure and function of the CMS detector and its subsystems
  • Identify particles colliding and emerging from collisions at the LHC from CMS data
  • Interpret the physical meaning of plots created from CMS data in light of conservation rules (charge, energy, momentum)
  • Ask and answer questions about the physics of high energy collisions using CMS data

Participants will take this journey first as students, and then as teachers from their experience of success as students discuss ways to guide students to similar successes.
